nine sellout
years, FLUID is
celebrating its
10th edition of
Montreal’s
biggest open bar
New Years.
Complete open
bar from 9PM to
3AM with
twenty-one
bartenders
staffing seven
bars. Open bar
at FLUID
includes Vodka,
Rum, Gin,
Tequila, Whisky,
wine, beer,
shots, energy
drinks and much
more. This is
not your typical
open bar!
Everything is
available,
straight from
the bottle, free
all night.
For New Year’s
2008-09, FLUID
is raising the
bar again.
Tickets now
include bar tips
as well. Why?
When people
don’t have to
worry about
money on New
Year’s Eve, they
let go and party
harder. Bar tips
were the last
cash element;
they had to go.
Everything about
FLUID is
designed for
maximal party
effect. Tickets
must be picked
up prior to the
event, so there
is
no lineup to
get in.
Attendance is
limited to an
intimate 1000
people to cap
lines at the
bar. The club
features a huge
dance floor that
bounces to
20,000 megawatts
of sound power
and a top of the
line laser and
light show. DJ
guests from New
York, Toronto
and Montreal,
spin
hip hop,
club anthems,
hot Latin and
old school
classics.
Dancers,
drummers and
other performers
fuel the vibe at
Club Soda, the
venue for this
year's event.
FLUID has
partnered with
some really cool
companies to
deliver a top
notch New Year’s
experience
including
Bacardi, Coors,
Molson,
Finlandia,
Iceberg,
Lifestyles
Condoms, Pop
Champagne, Red
Bull, Guru,

course, Peel

Runner-Up: Great
value for open
bar New Years
Eve in Montreal
We have visited
a lot of
parties, and
COUNTDOWN at Le
Medley is one of
the best New
Years Parties in
town.
First off,
Countdown was
the wildest
party our judges
and their
friends have
ever been to-
seriously. 1800
good-looking
people partying
for a common
cause –
debauchery!
The doors opened
at 8PM, earlier
than every other
party in town.
It gave people 2
hours to warm up
the bar with
cheap $2 drinks.
The first DJs
spun great music
to get us into
the mood.
At 10PM the open
bar kicked in
and it flowed
free all night
until closing at
3AM. There were
more than 40
COUNTDOWN
bartenders
tending 2 Giant
Bars downstairs,
2 more upstairs
and surprise
bars setup
everywhere in
between. The
bars were busy
at peak times as
can be expected,
but we had two
drinks in hand
at all times.
As the clock
ticked toward
midnight,
COUNTDOWN
lived
up to its name.
The crowd was
hot and bouncing
to best R&B, Hip
Hop and house
tracks. The
countdown from
Times Square NYC
was being
broadcast on
giant screens.
Bottles of
champagne danced
above the crowd.
Love was
everywhere. And
when 12:00 hit,
a sea of
balloons and
confetti rained
down on the
crowd earning
COUNTDOWN
one of
the top
positions of all
events for the
“Best First 60
Seconds of
2008”.
So in the survey
of last year’s
parties, our
judges
unanimously
agree that
COUNTDOWN was
the #2 New Years
party in
Montreal.

In 3rd place:
The Montreal
Barhop
December 30 -
night before New
Years. On the
night before New
Years Eve, slap
on the Barhop
bracelet for $20
and party at
twenty night
clubs with
17,000 people.
The Montreal
Barhop ticket
provides free
access to all
the top clubs in
Montreal and is
the best way to
sample Montreal
nightlife.
The opening
party last year
started at 9PM
at the Medley.
By 10PM, the 19
other Montreal
clubs on the bar
hop were open.
The Barhop
provides a
continuous
shuttle bus
service to all
twenty clubs, so
people can get
on and off as
they please.
Crescent Street
is the heart of
the Montreal
Barhop
celebration.
Thousands of
drunken revelers
fill the streets
every year,
sampling the
different bars
along the strip.
The wait to get
into the clubs
can be long,
especially
toward the end
of the night.
But most people
are too drunk to
care and the
party is
happening out on
the street too.
For people that
didn’t want the
night to end at
3AM, they danced
until 10am at
Montreal’s
internationally
acclaimed Stereo
after-hours.
Kick-off New
Years Eve
weekend right
with a 13-hour
night at The
Montreal Barhop.

#4: Time Supper
Club
One word
describes this
event: Slick.
Time Supper Club
is the place to
see and be seen.
It lies in the
industrial
underbelly of
downtown
Montreal and is
the sort of
place you need
to know about or
you’d never end
up there. If you
want to
infiltrate
trendy Montreal,
Time is the
party for you.
Time embodies
the concept of
entertainment
dining and is
one of the first
true supper
clubs to spurt
up in MTL. It is
inspired by
counterparts in
Miami and NYC.
The new years
party last year
kicked off with
a top-notch
fusion dinner.
Almost
imperceptibly,
the DJ raised
the energy in
the room and by
midnight all the
food was gone
and people were
dancing on
tables. Bottles
seemed to float
above the crowd
all night,
making the high
ceilings seem
even higher.
The music, like
everything else
at Time, has
style. Its DJs
are among and
most innovative
in Montreal. The
red/orange
lighting in the
club paints an
instant tan to
match the
off-white South
Beach décor.
The club is
parted by a thin
catwalk, red-lit
from below,
frequented by
the unrepressed,
who sometimes
tumble off
gracelessly into
the glam orgy.
There is no
dancefloor at
Time, but the
whole room,
including chairs
and tables are
fair game for
dancing. The bar
is crowded, but
if you have a
bottle on your
table, who
cares?! And if
you don’t have a
bottle on your
table, then
you’ve missed
half the fun of
partying at Time
Supper Club.
#5: Club 1234
Club 1234 is set
in the coolest
venue of all – a
mansion older
than Canada,
converted into a
club right in
the heart of
downtown
Montreal.
1234 party
tickets are the
cheapest of all
the parties we
recommend. Pay
$35 to get in
and drink only
as much as you
want to pay for.
But don’t let
the price of
this party fool
you. The venue
is awesome. It
has a main
floor, a VIP
lounge, the Red
Room, and new
smoking rooms
for people who
don’t want to
smoke out in the
cold. Montreal
star DJ Mario
Tremblay spun
the main room,
along with Kit
Carson and DJ
Sound in the
adjoining rooms.
This party is so
good that every
year somebody
sees the ghost
of the old man
who built the
building in the
1830’s. Now THAT
is the sign of a
good party.
